The Non-Essentials

There are 2 non-essential ANSI style labels. Those are:

Both are non-life threatening signs, which is why they are considered non-essential. For example, a Notice sign may include something like: “No Smoking” or “No Food or Drink Allowed.”6

Think of Notice signs, as Clarion Safety states, as “house keeping rules.”7

These can sometimes be used as a means of attracting attention to certain requirements on a machine, as well.

Safety Instructions, on the other hand, include easy to follow and, often times, detailed information presented in Standard Technical English (STE).8 STE provides technical terms and/or instructions in an easy to read fashion that the average person can understand.9

Safety Instructions may include how to safely shut down a machine or how to safely change tooling.
