Fine threads are stronger for the size, less likely to loosen due to ramp angle, require less torque to tighten, and allow finer adjustment, but are more likely to gall.
Coarse threaded screws are stronger for the same length of engagement, are less delicate, assemble faster, are less likely to cross thread, and are less susceptible to corrosion. When in doubt, use coarse.
